Casa Bella Positano
Host
This Airbnb is hosted by a lovely woman named Roberta. She is a super host on Airbnb with a 4.97 rating and over 300 reviews for this property. She speaks English, Italian, and Spanish and is extremely quick with response times when it comes to messaging her. Roberta and her family live in a home just below the Airbnb and will be there to greet you with a welcome drink when you check in to the property. They completely respect your privacy, but are there to help if need be. Roberta will provide you with a long list of recommendations from the most scenic views, local places to shop, and romantic restaurants you must try. It’s no wonder why this Airbnb has such great reviews and that’s all due to Roberta.
Location
The Casa Bella Airbnb is located in the heart of Positano. Positano itself is one of the thirteen towns that make up the Amalfi Coast. It is a gorgeous town set within a winding mountain hillside that sits along the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The Casa Bella Positano property sits higher up on the mountainside, allowing for stunning views of the Sea. It is about a fifteen-minute walk from Casa Bella to the town center and another five minutes to the beach. Since the Airbnb is higher up the mountainside, it will require you to walk numerous amounts of stairs. It is almost impossible to avoid the precipitous stairs of Positano and guests should be wary of so when packing their footwear.
A glimpse of the stairs that fill Positano
Airbnb
The Casa Bella Positano Airbnb is a dreamy one-bedroom home nestled in the mountainside. It does require a good amount of stair walking to reach the property and guests should be advised that if they are not fit to do so, then they should not stay here, or visit Positano in general. Seriously, the stairs here are no joke and unavoidable! It makes it all worth it when you see the view.
The home has a similar layout to a studio-style apartment, with the bathroom being the only room with a separate door. You walk into the unit and the bed is on the right-hand side next to a giant armoire and a tv in the left corner. The dining table and kitchen will be to your left-hand side and the bathroom will be directly in front of you when you open the front door. The room features a queen bed that sleeps two comfortably.
The kitchen is a full kitchen with gorgeous views out the windows. It comes fully stocked with any appliances you could need to make a full meal at home. It also offers a coffee machine that comes fully stocked with coffee grounds. The fridge is also a full-sized fridge, which is a nice change from the mini fridges you see in hotel rooms. When I stayed there, the host even left a full bowl of fruits and vegetables from her garden for us to enjoy during our stay.
The balcony is where you will want to spend most of your time while in the Airbnb. It’s a decently large balcony with stunning views of the Sea. Enjoy the provided wine out here before heading out to dinner during the evening.
Cost
If you’ve done your research on Positano, you know it’s not cheap. Year after year, tourists come rushing to the Amalfi Coast to spend their summers soaking up the sun. The influx of tourism has driven the prices up exponentially, with no sign of stopping. You will be hard-pressed to find a hotel under $500 USD a night during the summertime, but that’s the beauty of Airbnb. Airbnb has proven to be a cheaper option than hotels while traveling in Italy and the Casa Bella Positano property is a great example of that.
I stayed at Casa Bella mid-August in 2021, right after covid restrictions had been lifted for travel to Europe from the United States. There was a mass flood of tourism and prices reflected that. During my stay at Casa Bella, the nightly rate was $259 USD, with additional total service fees of $74 USD. I did book this just a couple of weeks before the trip, so prices could have potentially been cheaper if booked in advance.
Upon, checking the rates for August of 2023, the nightly price has slightly gone down to $241 USD. August is still considered peak season for travel to Positano and managing to find a cheaper rate than this would be nothing short of a miracle. To give you some context, most of the top hotels in Positano will run you well over a grand a night. The famous Le Sirenuse Hotel with its bright red and white facade, will cost you an average of $3,500 USD a night during August. The equally famous, but more secluded Il San Pietro di Positano will cost an average of $2,200 a night.
The Casa Bella Airbnb allows you to enjoy all that Positano has to offer, without breaking the bank.
Recommendations
Even though your host Roberta will provide you with a more detailed list of places to dine, I would be remiss to not highlight two of the restaurants she suggested that were absolutely incredible.
The first is Da Vincenzo. This is an upscale Italian restaurant with a stone and brick interior. The Michelin Guide recognizes this restaurant and for good reason. The restaurant was picturesque and the food was delicious. You will be greeted with welcome champagne and hospitable staff. Reservations are recommended as this place does fill up.
The second restaurant is Il Fornillo. This is a more casual restaurant serving up Italian fare. The patio dining along the street is exactly what you come to Positano to experience. This restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and offers views of the Sea. Don’t be startled by the neighborhood cats that may cuddle up to you during your meal.
Enjoy Your Stay
Hopefully, now you can see why Casa Bella Positano is the best Airbnb on the Amalfi Coast!
